Patents

Elements of the MouseMet and RatMet electronic von frey testing systems for rats and mice are the subject of several patents and patent applications. We would like to remind all readers here that the purpose of a patent is to exclude others from making, using, selling, offering for sale or importing the patented invention for the term of the patent.

Accordingly, elements of the system (force transducer and rodent run)  are covered by:

UK patents GB 2489933 and GB2489793

US patent US 8,944,008 B2

And are the subject of European patent application 12161418.4

These patents will be defended vigorously. Topcat Metrology  would not, however, wish to restrict the use of any invention that improves animal welfare and so we will encourage licensing agreements for manufacture of some of the inventions covered by suitable organisations.
